SPLIT solution at Neckar Spinderi
VEX1000 SPLIT was the solution for a narrow access road
In the Neckarspinnerei Quartier in Wendlingen near Stuttgart, one of the first units in the new VEX1000 series has been installed in a basement area. The project offered challenging access conditions with a door width of only 71 cm, a narrow staircase and reduced ceiling height with steel beams.
The solution was a VEX1050RS supplied as a SPLIT unit, where EXHAUSTO Service took care of dismantling, transport and reassembly directly at the installation site.
Project and preconditions
Renovation projects often place special demands on the ventilation solution. It is not only about airflow, energy efficiency and control - the unit must also be able to be transported in and adapted to the physical conditions in the building.
A current example is the Neckarspinnerei Quartier in Wendlingen near Stuttgart. A VEX1050RS from the new VEX1000 series with rotary heat exchanger, side duct connections and an airflow of approx. 5,000 m³/h was installed here.
The biggest challenge was the location in a basement area with a narrow access road. The unit was therefore delivered and installed as a SPLIT solution with assistance from EXHAUSTO Service.
In addition to this unit, three additional VEX1000 units were subsequently supplied with top connections to other areas of the building. 11 additional units will follow in the coming weeks. The top connections support space-saving installation in technical rooms with limited space.
The challenge: transport into existing buildings
Access to the installation site was particularly demanding. The VEX unit had to be transported through a door of only 71 cm, down narrow stairs and further into a basement area with reduced headroom. At the same time, steel beams further limited the space on site.
It was therefore not possible to bring in the VEX unit as a complete unit.
This type of project emphasises the importance of thinking about installation and transport conditions early in the planning. In the case of renovations, listed buildings and other existing buildings, structural adaptations are often limited or not possible. Therefore, it is crucial to choose a solution where the unit design, transport route and installation conditions have been considered together from the outset.
