CAV is the simplest form of control

It is a simple on/off timer, which can, for example, switch a unit on at 07:00 and turn it off again at 16.00.

CAV is typically used when:

- Ventilation needs are uniform
- Loads from people show low variation
- Heat load shows a low variation

Examples: Reception areas, copy rooms, corridors and WCs

Features Advantages Disadvantages
A timer and weekly plan control the activities of the ventilation plant

Any timer can be overridden by a switch or motion sensor
Cheap installation

Simple to control
Same airflow in every room, regardless of load

Higher energy consumption
